life groups

Church is not a building, place, name or program, it is people.  God has called us to be connected to one another in community.  We believe that the best place for people to experience authentic community is within the smaller gatherings that take place in homes, coffee shops, restaurants and third places.  Our life groups create environments and safe atmospheres for individuals to know and to be known within a sharing, accountable, missonal community.

Our life groups are distinct blends of people who journey, love, learn and grow together to become more like Jesus.  Each one is a unique expression of The Garden’s values/practice and helps to reflect our mission as a church.  As such life groups are great places for people to belong, encounter, engage and serve in community.

The typical size of a life group ranges from six to 15 people.  The specifics of the groups varies from group to group and the core practices of the groups are to study the Scriptures, to pray and serve one another, to engage culture, to practice the spiritual gifts, and to demonstrate love.  A life group typically meets once a week and each group has two facilitators and each facilitator is guided and directed by a Life Group Shepherd.
